BioNova Recycling win major food waste award
An Okehampton business whose machines turn food waste into a valuable source of renewable energy have won a major industry award.
At the prestigious 2010 Food Processing Awards, BioNova were voted into first place by the magazine’s readers in the fiercely contested category of Energy Management, where it has proved its capability in transforming unwanted food waste into an energy-rich material for use in a biomass boiler – effectively giving its customers free on-site hot water and heating – as well as creating a diversion from landfill.
Receiving the Award at the Hinckley Island Hotel in Leicestershire, BioNova’s Managing Director Clive Tayton said: “Fantastic. The Food Processing Awards are the finest accolade out there. We’ve made great progress over the past year with food manufacturers, caterers, and places such as Moto in Exeter investing in our BioDigester, which makes a massive reduction in food waste and provides an organic source of renewable energy”.
Organised by Food Processing the leading industry magazine for the largest processing sector in the UK, this years’ awards were being staged for the 27th time.
